Garinei Udi: Building Bridges in a Turbulent Society

Who we are

Garinei Udi is part of “Benetivei Udi” (In Udi’s Path), an NGO, was established by Mordechai and Georgette Elgrably in memory of their son, Lt. Udi Elgrably z”l, who was killed in action in Lebanon in 1994. Udi’s parents chose to honor their son by advancing his values and his efforts to narrow social gaps.

The need

In the face of mounting tensions and challenges, Israeli society finds itself approaching a boiling point. The divisions that have emerged are threatening the very essence of our collective identity

The solution

However, amidst this turmoil, a beacon of hope shines bright through the Garinei Udi program
Garinei Udi serves as a powerful force, uniting religious, secular, and masorati teenagers who are determined to bridge the gaps and heal the fractures within our society. With unwavering support from the Federation, these young individuals actively engage in fostering understanding, inclusiveness, and support for the most vulnerable members of our communities

Why Us

who may rarely interact otherwise. Through joint studies and community initiatives, these teenagers strive to uplift underserved populations, offering summer camps for underprivileged children and lending a helping hand to the elderly in need (including home renovations). During Hanukkah, they stand in unity with thousands of other teenagers and children from various youth movements, embarking on a national "Unity Journey."
This year-round program consists of weekly meetings, delving into vital topics such as identity, community, social disparities, and pressing issues within Israeli society. Through their collective efforts and social involvement, these teenagers evolve into inclusive, pluralistic teen leaders who transcend their differences, embracing shared values of solidarity, justice, and charitable giving.
Operating in cooperation with major youth movements in cities like Beersheva, Modi'in, and Jerusalem, Garinei Udi aims to expand its reach to additional localities as soon as possible. The urgency to strengthen our nation's resilience has never been greater, and Garinei Udi stands as a testament to the power of unity amidst diversity.

What is needed
